CommVault Simpana Symantec Antivirus Exclusion on Windows servers

CommVault Simpana Symantec Antivirus Exclusion on Windows servers

Have you ever wonder why your backups have been performing so slow especially with file system as iDataAgent backup type.
Well... If you have looked everywhere and things look good.. ......Now will be the time to hold your breath and see your IT security dept and ask them when Symantec is pushing updates to client nodes in the network.

If you are suspecting that something is going wrong for your backup for a specific node because of the AV, just do the AV exclusion/exceptions on your client as follow

From your client computer start your AV and click on Change Settings. On the exception click configure settings/ Click Add and add the following information (this should exclude these files to be scanned while CommVault is doing backup)

C:\Program Files\CommVault\Simpana\Base\EvMgrC.exe
C:\Program Files\CommVault\Simpana\Base\CLBackup.exe
C:\Program Files\CommVault\Simpana\Base\IFind.exe
C:\Program Files\CommVault\Simpana\Base\cvd.exe
NEXT select the folder and enter the following

C:\Program Files\CommVault\Simpana

After all it should look like this

Click OK when completed  and exit the AV . Restart your backup job

You can find a list of AV exclusion in CommVault site on the following link
